Villa Orquidea Boutique Hotel

We’d already planned and booked our days, but the hotel does have local tour and guide contacts. The Wi-Fi worked well enough for Netflix, and the room stayed comfortable and dry with good AC. Breakfast was a highlight, with a different dish each day alongside the regular fruit, yogurt, and granola. We stayed five nights and even thought about cancelling another part of our trip so we could stay longer. I’d come back to Merida and stay here again in a heartbeat.

The staff were wonderful, especially when my wife got sick. They helped us with medication and gave her extra assistance. Our room and bathroom were very good, and breakfast was excellent every day. We stayed five days. Our room was around the corner, so we couldn’t see the pool, and another room might have suited us better. We had a car and found street parking nearby each day.

Griselda deserves a special mention. She’ll do so much to make your stay easy and pleasant, and the whole team made me feel welcome. The hotel and location were fantastic, too. My room was spacious, nice, and very clean. I could’ve used more towel rails in the bathroom, and a handheld shower would have been more practical than the rain shower, especially given the local toilet paper setup and the need to rinse specific areas. That’s a small detail, though.

The suite was spacious and really lovely, with all the amenities we needed. The bed was huge and maybe the most comfortable one we’ve ever slept in. It had a high quality feel but also felt like a sweet family run place, thanks to the lovely staff. We were leaving early each morning for trips or travel, before breakfast. When we mentioned we’d be checking out early to catch a bus, they offered to pack us a little breakfast to take along. We stayed three nights in Merida and would definitely return.
