Gran Hotel Panorama

We had no other option near the airport, but this felt like camping in a sauna. It was unbelievably hot, and there were no fans despite the lack of air conditioning. Ice cost twice as much as getting Uber to bring it. The rooms might be okay with some kind of temperature control. There's potential here, but it's not there yet. Could be nice.

The street outside was noisy, and when I asked to move, I was told no rooms were available. Smoke from the smoker next door kept coming into my non-smoking room because there wasn't enough ventilation, which made the stay really uncomfortable. The hotel smelled old and musty. My bedsheet wasn't clean, with bits of trash and hair on it. Furniture was in poor shape, including a torn chair seat, and the shower door was broken. Staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful. It was hard to find anyone who spoke English, and my problems were basically ignored.

We only used it as a place to sleep after arriving, and I'm not sure I'd stay again. The hotel is supposed to be non-smoking, but the halls smelled of smoke. Our room faced inward, yet it was fairly loud at night and had little airflow. Breakfast is available at the restaurant downstairs; there were also tamale sellers around the area. We went out to eat instead.

The staff are great, and the place is affordable. I don't speak Spanish, but I'm really enjoying Mexico city and my choice of accommodation. There's a Tacos corner right across the street, with delicious meals at affordable prices. I'd do this again!
