Hostel Mexico DF Airport

The front desk service was great, but I wouldn’t stay again. We had a bathroom in the room, though its sink was so tiny that washing your face was impossible. The room first smelled like a laundry room, then later like sewer gas.

The room was awful, with a street-facing window along one whole wall that wouldn’t close properly and had no opaque curtains. There was no privacy or quiet. The opposite wall was just cardboard-colored paper and clear tape between us and the breakfast area, so from 7 a.m. it felt like sleeping in a dining room. Then there were street celebrations for Día de Muertos weekend, and with the windows as they were, it felt like a club until 6 a.m. Breakfast was poor, the staff seemed close to scamming us, and the area around the hostel felt unsafe. It was the worst hostel stay I’ve had, considering the facilities, location, and service. We’d booked two double rooms, but on arrival they said we’d be moved into one room with four beds together. They offered no discount and tried to use an inflated exchange rate because we’d booked in USD and were paying in pesos. Don’t come here.

I’m so glad I picked this place instead of a pod at the airport. For less than the pod cost, I got a whole room to myself, and it’s conveniently located near the airport with lots of personality. Breakfast was included, and the shared spaces were great. It’s really handy when you have a long connection in Mexico City.

A great place to sleep before a flight, and I didn’t hear the planes while I was asleep. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the airport, though a taxi will cost around 150 Pesos. The staff respond quickly on WhatsApp, and the place is clean, with several terraces and the cutest decor, lots of plants and art on the walls. Breakfast is basic, just coffee, square sliced bread, a few sauces, a banana, and corn flakes. For the price, though, it’s really decent. I rarely leave reviews, but this place is seriously underrated!
