I’ve spent at least a year of my life staying at Ambos Mundos over the past 20 years, including three days a week for the last six months. I know most of the rooms, and usually have breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, which is very good for the price. In my experience, anything on the menu is available at any time, and the Restaurant serves 24 hours. WiFi works fine if you connect to the network for your floor and room. You can reserve in person, by phone, or on Booking.com, check in before 11 PM, check out at 1 PM, and stay in the room for more than five hours. I’ve spoken with everyone who works at reception and in the hotel, but still haven’t come across the rude girl people mention. I find it safe, and I walk on the street at night. The one small issue for me is the new tall “luxury hotel” pillows on the sixth floor. They hurt my neck, so I ask reception for a room on another floor. I have no idea what the complainers in the reviews are talking about.

The price is good and the room itself was nice. But the lighting is awful, and they tried to keep my ID so I could use the TV. Room service kept switching off the cool air, too. After coming back sweaty from a walk, I'd be stuck in a hot room for about half an hour.

This was my second stay here, and it was very different from the first, when the room was clean and quiet. This time I was put next to the main road. Trucks and motorcycles made loud noise all night, and even earbuds couldn't make it possible to sleep. The sheets were dirty and smelled like a sweaty middle-aged man. They also felt a bit itchy when I slept on them.

Awful experience. I booked by phone before traveling internationally, expecting to spend a couple of days in Tacubaya CDMX. When I arrived, they said they had a reservation for 40 people and had no record of mine. Ridiculous. After paying very high taxi fares, I was left carrying my luggage and walking by myself through dangerous streets to look for another hotel. I had a terrible time and wouldn't wish that on anyone.
