Hotel Juarez

I've returned to this hotel several times because the central location and price have always worked well for me. One catch: as a foreign cardholder, my credit card payment was automatically converted to my home currency at a poor rate, with no option to pay in pesos. It added about 10% to the cost, so cash is probably the better choice.

It’s very cheap, and most of the tourist spots and pickup points around Centro are close enough to walk to. From the outside it looks a little sketchy, but inside it was fine. The rooms were decent, though the bed was hard and the bathrooms small. The big disappointment was the lack of air conditioning.

The price, rooms, and location are a good combination, and the location is hard to beat. I could hear noise from other rooms through the thin walls, though. Still, it works well for a short stay.

The beds were painfully hard, which was especially rough for my mother's back and made it hard to rest after a day out. Keep that in mind if you're staying for a while. Apart from that, I really liked the hotel. I had a fourth-floor room with working WiFi, and they kindly accommodated my request for a balcony. The staff worked hard, were helpful, and treated our belongings respectfully while cleaning. The area is great for the price, and July's weather was lovely. It can get noisy at night with the window open, which comes with the location, and melatonin may help. It was also one of the few places around with a working elevator. The hotel felt charming, and the staff were among the best.
