Hotel Normandie

The location was walkable and felt okay for safety at any time of day. The subway is one block away, and there are loads of restaurants of all kinds nearby. But there was SO MUCH NOISE late into the night that I could hardly sleep. I wouldn’t stay here again. The room smelled awful, like a sewer, and it got even worse with the bathroom door open. It was just clean enough, and the bed was very hard with uncomfortable pillows. Ants crawled from the sink onto the towels and blanket. We only got bath towels, no hand towels. The administration service was awful too. We asked for an extra pillow and it felt like we were begging. It took three days to get them. While I was showering, the hotel ran out of water. My husband brought half a bucket, but the water was so dirty. I waited 40 minutes without help, soap still on my body and shampoo in my hair. The day before our last night, staff tried to make us leave. My husband spoke to them in English and Spanish, but they kept saying they didn’t understand and telling him to go. I speak Spanish and was furious at how they treated him. Even if they couldn’t understand, they could have checked the dates. We stayed 16 awful days. We tried to cancel and get our money back after the second day, but they refused. They ignored calls from the booking app’s support center and kept hanging up, saying NO English! August 2023.

There was no ventilation in the bathroom, and the room smelled terrible. Loud noises went on all night, the bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the night staff were rude and unprofessional. I didn’t feel safe in this motel.

A nice hotel at a lower price.
