The owner was incredible and helped us with whatever we needed, answered our questions, and suggested things to do and places to eat. The rooms are beautiful and cleaned every day. It’s well located too, with a park and some breakfast spots nearby. Everything about the stay was amazing.

The breakfast was delicious, and it’s a full menu with over 30 dishes, not a continental spread. The hotel itself is small and beautiful, and the staff were attentive, polite, and wonderful. Restaurants and lovely parks are within walking distance, and the neighborhood felt very safe. This could be my secret gem whenever I’m in Mexico City.

The neighborhood was cute, with a corner market and a huge park about a five-minute walk away. Our host was so friendly and suggested things to do during the week, plus a few restaurants near our room. Such a beautiful place. I’d absolutely come back.

My room was very clean and comfortable, and the European master painter theme was a fun touch. There were thoughtful little details too, like a bottle of wine, candy on the bed, and a welcome home note after sightseeing. I don’t drink, so I didn’t use the wine. Mauricio, the host, is gracious and fascinating, with a deep knowledge of Mexico City’s sights and history. I enjoyed our evening chats about Mexican history and even potentially sensitive topics like politics. The conversations were respectful and enlightening. The location is excellent. Insurgentes is nearby, where you can catch the Metrobus. I found it a good alternative to the crowded underground Metro, and a ride was only $6 pesos. Uber was also convenient in the COVID and post-COVID environment, and drivers had no trouble finding the place. There are a few drawbacks. Aircraft noise can be bothersome because the B&B is in the flight path. After the first night I wore earplugs, and it stopped bothering me. Cigarette smoke can be noticeable in the common areas if you spend much time there, but it wasn’t a problem for me inside the smoke-free rooms. Breakfast can be added for a reasonable fee, though I wish it weren’t all or nothing. After a few hearty Mexican breakfasts at the house, I’d have liked the option of eating around town. Nearby walkable restaurants are somewhat limited. I know of two good taco spots and an American-style cafe, which I didn’t try. Even with those issues, I’d still give it five stars and stay again on a future trip to Mexico City. I had a wonderful five-day visit at Mexsuites Casa Azul B&B.

Mauricio made sure we could meet our sightseeing goals, and when our limited Spanish became a challenge, he even arranged with a taxi driver to take us to Xochimilco. He also suggested the Dolores Olmedo museum afterward, which was an excellent idea. We really enjoyed his company and hospitality, and I’d love to return to Mexico City. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. The Mexsuites Casa Azul B&B is charming and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches. The rooms are named for famous painters, and the hand-carved wooden entrance doors are gorgeous. The common areas are elegant and kept spotless by the friendly staff. We were also given a room upgrade at no extra cost.
