ONTO Alvaro Obregon Mexico City

The rooms were beautiful, clean, and really spacious, and the staff were kind and helpful. I’m fussy about hotel rooms, but this one met all my expectations. We were there for a girls trip, and the central location felt safe. There’s a cool tequlia bar next door and a great coffee shop, Quezential, down the street. We didn’t need the kitchen, but it was handy for making coffee in the morning. If you go, give Pablo, the front door guy, a high five from his Canadian Friends.

I found Onto Álvaro Obregón by chance while staying at another nearby hotel on one of my regular business trips to Mexico City, and I’m glad I did. It’s become my new favorite place to stay, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. The location is right in the middle of trendy Roma Norte, with cafés, bars, and restaurants all an easy walk away. Rufus downstairs was another plus: the food was delicious, the place was always buzzing, and it was convenient to have meals sent up to the room. Just be aware it isn’t open for breakfast. My room felt like a stylish, high-spec mini-apartment, with a kitchenette and sitting area. It was nice to have the option of cooking or just having a quiet night in, though there are plenty of places to go out nearby. The modern design has character, with art books, sleek finishes, and thoughtful details. The bathrooms were spacious and high spec, with excellent products and lots of fluffy towels. I had a balcony room, but the soundproofing was so good I didn’t notice any street noise from lively Álvaro Obregón. The concrete floors look great, though they can feel chilly, so slippers or sliders might come in handy. I enjoyed meeting the team, especially Pablo at the downstairs door, who was cheerful, helpful, and lovely to chat with. The rooftop terrace was a lovely surprise, whether I wanted to take a break from work with my laptop or just relax.

We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in Mexico City. ONTO Alvaro Obregon is in a great spot in Roma, but somehow the hotel stays quiet and peaceful. It still feels quite new, the rooms are huge and well equipped, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop views across the city are amazing. We enjoyed it more than we expected, and would highly recommend it.

The location was a highlight for our long weekend, right in Roma Norte and an easy walk from lots of shops and restaurants. The rooms are nice and a decent size, but the AC wasn’t great. Service felt more like two stars than five. They ran out of bottled water on two of our three nights, so we had to go buy our own at a gas station. It was manageable, but you’d expect a five-star hotel to have extra bottles for guests. The included continental breakfast was coffee and stale pastries. Eggs, pancakes, and similar items cost extra. Housekeeping didn’t get to our room until 4 pm on either day. We had a good enough stay, but this definitely wasn’t five-star.
