She wouldn't let me stay, even after I said I was willing to pay the extra 5% for using my card. She said she knew people like me would leave a bad review the next day, then told me to go. Before that, when I asked why there was a 5% card fee on top of the 3% transaction charge from my bank, she got angry and told me foreigners should respect her rules and that she could choose who stayed at her place. I booked through Booking, but she hadn't charged me there. It made me think she was trying to make more money. Maybe that also explains why the hotel's reviews aren't bad: she only accepts guests she expects will leave good ones. Such a rude businesswoman. Mexico City was the worst experience, and in a country so dependent on tourism, her behavior should embarrass the rest of Mexico.

The room was small, clean and cozy, with a shared bathroom, and the host was great. Fantastic value, too, about a 10-minute drive from Terminal 1.

There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance, and the price is reasonable. The room was clean, and the host was so friendly. She waited for me, chatted even though she was tired, and made me feel at home. This is the best kind of place for a short visit, close to the airport as well. I'll come back whenever I have a flight here.

I was sad to be leaving Mexico, and Verenice's warm welcome was exactly what I needed. The area felt safe, with food easy to find nearby even late at night. The place itself is basic, a real backpacker's hostel, but I felt welcome.

Even with my flight arriving at midnight, Verenice stayed up for me, which made me feel safe and welcome. She and the staff were wonderful, and everything was clean and comfortable. I'd definitely stay again and recommend it, especially for being close to the airport.
