TRYP by Wyndham Mexico City World Trade Center Area

A horrible experience. Johanna was awful. She charged me twice. That’s not a huge deal, I’ll work it out, but her attitude about it was terrible.

It’s a decent hotel for a short visit, but several things made my stay uncomfortable. The elevator buttons were so hard to operate that it took me a minute of trying to get it to go down to my floor or open at the lobby. The carpet in the room was thin and glued over concrete, so walking around wasn’t comfortable. It’s next to a strip club, and sometimes you can hear the music and crowd through the windows. The hotel restaurant is being renovated, but breakfast was still available in the morning. Late checkout was “not available” on my checkout day, which threw off my plans since I had to pack everything. Late checkout is one of the few amenities the hotel offers.

I was there for four days, and the location is very central. The soundproofing between rooms could be better, though. Noise from the neighboring room’s TV kept me from sleeping. I also had an odd experience when a cleaning staff member came into my room despite my “Do Not Disturb” sign. That felt a bit off.

The room was clean, and everything from check-in through check-out felt first class. Breakfast buffet food was very good, and the staff were friendly. I only wish the hotel had a second elevator to handle all the traffic. Everything else was great.
