ULIV Apartments El Ángel

The room was so bad that we ended our trip early and booked the next flight home. There was hair on the comforter, sheets, pillows, bathroom floor, and even stuck to the bathroom door. The shower was visibly dirty and had a large rusty metal bar in it. Sheets and comforters were stained, and the furniture had obvious water marks. It didn’t look like the room had been properly cleaned, if it had been cleaned at all. I contacted management right away, sent photos, and offered to pay for an upgrade. They said the hotel was “sold out” and the room was “clean to their standards.” They didn’t address the problems that night, saying housekeeping could come the next day because staff had gone home. When I asked for a refund, they refused and essentially said they couldn’t make it right. The room’s condition and the dismissive response were unacceptable. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, and I’d never stay here again. The standards are shockingly low, and management doesn’t take guest concerns seriously.

The location is good, but the rooms aren’t updated, and the staff should have checked the soap before guests arrived. When I got there, the door code didn’t work. They gave me a new one, but that failed too, and sorting it out made me late for dinner. They fixed it while I was out, but when I got back and tried to shower, the shower soap was empty. The front desk said they had none, so I couldn’t shower. I also heard staff tell another couple on arrival that the water in their room wasn’t working. Not happy.

The location is prime, with a very short walk to the train station and El Angel, plus street food all around. Our room was spacious as promised and clean, and the staff were attentive and excellent. When we mentioned the room was hot, they installed an extra Aircon that worked perfectly. It gets a bit noisy at night, but that’s a trade-off we’re willing to make for staying in the city center. Great value!

The beds were really comfortable, and the AC and shower worked well. The apartment also had the basics covered, including a small kitchen, living area and smart TV. Its spot between Condesa and Roma Norte made it easy to walk to restaurants and bars, and there’s a grocery store next door for things like coffee and SIM cards. There was security at the entrance, though the neighborhood itself seemed safe. We stayed five nights. It felt more like a self-catered Airbnb than a hotel, so housekeeping cost extra and we had to handle the trash ourselves. Toilet paper, water and coffee capsules weren’t restocked, and the sheets and towels stayed the same. The laundry room, one reason we chose the place, was often closed for maintenance. Traffic from the main road was noisy, which didn’t bother us but could trouble light sleepers. Our stay was fine, though at this price there may be better choices in the nicer area of Condesa.
