Hotel Hacienda Montesinos

It’s sad to see how much this beautiful place has changed since I visited years ago. The staffing seems lacking: the receptionist cooks and serves, and even the bathroom cleaners bring breakfast to tables. There’s no one to complain to because the manager is absent all day. She apparently shows up around 2 pm in her pajamas, looking quite disheveled, and her personality is much like the state of her office. The so-called complimentary breakfast is pathetic. What a shame.

The pool and garden were the only parts I liked, and the room price really wasn’t worth it. The rooms were far too small, there was no phone service, and the bathroom had just two towels, with no small bath towel. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and the sheets felt like sandpaper. There wasn’t a free outlet in the room unless I unplugged the bathroom mirror, so using the hair dryer left nowhere to charge a phone or smartwatch. Breakfast was just toast with jam, coffee or tea, and melon slices cut so thin you could see through them.

The rooms were really comfortable, and the service was excellent. I especially liked that the pool stays at a pleasant temperature.

We’ve stayed at this hotel before, which made the checkout issue especially frustrating. They tried to charge us 200 pesos for a cream that had never been in our room. Staff checked our suitcases and car, but didn’t find it. The way they handled the dispute felt unprofessional and unethical, and the room checkout process clearly wasn’t under control.
