Agrado Guest House

It's in a great location and has lovely design, but check the room details carefully before booking. Some rooms have neither air conditioning nor windows, and some have glass doors that let in light and make sleeping uncomfortable. The rooms aren't all the same, so make sure you're getting a decent one.

The staff were very attentive, and the gardens were beautiful. The room itself was spacious and stylish, but very warm in April, and its street-facing window made it noisy. At night I had to choose between opening the window and putting up with the noise, or keeping it closed and staying hot. We also found a cockroach in the shower on the first day and saw a dead one at the entrance. For what each room costs, they should pay more attention to those details. Breakfast was good.

I've stayed here before, which is why I booked a whole week, but this visit was quite disappointing. There were ants in the bathroom and even a pair on the bed. The shower didn't work the first night. I messaged through the app and got no reply, so I went downstairs in my towel. They let me use another bathroom, but not politely. They fixed the shower afterward. My room's balcony faced a noisy street, and the curtain wouldn't close, so the streetlights kept shining in all night. The breakfast was great, and so were the cooks. The managers weren't very friendly.

The area is lively, with celebrations carrying on well past midnight on weekends, and the rustic colonial building lets noise through. If you want quiet, this may not suit you. But it's a fun location right near everything, and I was happy with it. The building is beautiful, the staff are super friendly, and the rooms and whole property are tastefully decorated. Breakfast was included, with a rotating menu that was always tasty. It's also very secure, with staff available around the clock to let you in. The location is just a few minutes' walk from zocalo and Santo Domingo.
