Hostal CASA MX quinta avenida

The location, right on the main tourist street, was great, and the front desk staff were kind. I also liked the wristband key system for getting inside. The rooms had lockers, bathrooms, and each bunk had its own outlet, light, and curtain. I chose this hostel because it was much cheaper than the others in Playa del Carmen at the time. It's perfectly fine, though nothing especially memorable, and I didn't run into anything seriously bad. It was clean, but felt a little empty, as if they'd only just moved in and hadn't finished furnishing it. There's not much of a place to relax outside the room, so it wasn't very social, though it has room to become a more rounded hostel. A couple of things did affect my stay: there was no hand soap in the bathroom, which I consider essential, and the pillows were too thick for me to sleep comfortably. Those are why I took off a star, though they may not bother everyone. I was hesitant to book because of the low ratings and few reviews, so I thought I'd leave my own.
