I’d stayed here before it was sold, and the difference is awful. I had to switch rooms twice. The walls are paper thin, the toilet quit working, and I had no hot water, though guests who weren’t American did. I ended up showering in the room of two really kind Mexican guys I’d met. Aside from one very nice man at reception, the front desk staff seemed completely lost. One woman quoted me $500 to rent a large car for the day to get to the airport, but I found the same thing online for $50. You can also arrange a larger van pickup from the airport. Don’t take what they tell you at face value. The new management seems to have no idea how to run a hotel or look after guests, and I even wondered if they just disliked Americans. I tipped the housekeepers and chef, and they laughed instead of saying thanks. Another American couple was put in the worst room, practically right on the street, even though other rooms were free. There are also creepy cameras all over, including in the breakfast area and some aimed toward rooms. I wouldn’t stay here. Other boutique hotels nearby will treat you better for the same price.

We had such a nice stay. The room and beds were really comfortable, and the staff were super friendly. Breakfast was fresh and the food was good. Everything was close enough that we never needed a cab, and we’d definitely come back.

The rooms were wonderful, and each one had a flower for a name. Everyone was so helpful. We had a great time here, it was the best part of our trip to Mexico, and we’ll definitely return. Thanks so much, Terry and family from London England

It was my second time staying at Arco Sodi Hotel, and they made me feel like family again. The new wing is beautiful, with roomy suite-style rooms that are comfortable and still have a touch of elegance. The courtyard is lovely for breakfast or evening drinks, and a peaceful spot to chat with other travelers. The grounds are immaculate, and every room has its own carefully designed theme. There’s a lot of history here. It was once the home of Dr. Sodi, a respected local doctor, and his daughter now runs the hotel with obvious care and pride. From the moment you arrive, the place feels warm and welcoming. Arco Sodi Hotel brings together history, hospitality, and heart. I highly recommend it if you’re visiting Oaxaca.

We spent five nights in the King bed room. The location worked perfectly, about a safe 5-10 minute walk from the center, but far enough out for some peace and quiet. Our room was spacious and very clean, though it was near reception and we could hear a little road noise. If you’re sensitive to sound, I’d ask for a different room. There are only a few rooms, so the service felt really personal and was the best we had on the whole trip. Max greeted us with a smile every night, chatted with us, and helped with anything we needed. Breakfast was included and superb, with coffee, juice, fruit, and eggs made different ways each day. It felt like having a private chef, and I’m sure you could eat as much as you wanted. I’d highly recommend the hotel.
