El Rincon de Doña Bety

It's basic, but the staff were kind and really helpful. The Wi-Fi was very weak, though we managed to make it work. The bed was quite firm but comfortable, the shower was nice and hot, and there was plenty of space. It's centrally located in Oaxaca on a quieter street, still close to everything. We had a lovely stay.

The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and the rooms were cleaned every day. Karina at reception was especially nice. During the first week I got food poisoning, and the woman who looks after the plants made me tea to soothe my stomach pain. The only downside was the construction banging during the last days of my vacation. I'd definitely stay again once the construction is over.

From the courtyard it looks good, but inside it's mostly a dump. The bedding is worn, the shower only drizzles, and the TV is ancient. For 200 pesos more, you can get somewhere much, much nicer. Dona Bety needs to put money into renovations.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they work hard to keep the place clean, which is an endless job. It's inexpensive and has been recently renovated. Still, it's a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for.
