Hotel Azucena

The staff were super friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and the price was great. The rooms are a little small, but we were out all day and only came back to sleep, so it worked well for us.

Silvia and the staff make you feel at home, and the neighbourhood felt safe, with people around day and night. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the main Zocalo, a bit uphill but manageable. The rooftop garden has lovely city and sunset views, and works well for breakfast or a quiet evening drink from the common fridge. The rooms are small but have what you need. There’s only a fan, and the windows have shutters and nets. The solid walls and wooden doors and windows don’t keep outside noise out very well, though the hotel is generally calm and quiet. For a budget-friendly stay in Oaxaca, the location is excellent.

Silvia, Edson, Clara and Amanda made the stay a joy. The care they put into the details really comes through. Silvia speaks fluent English and cheerfully helps sort out any questions. We loved the delicious breakfast choices, including Mexican eggs, on the beautiful rooftop terrace full of plants. Highly recommend.

The building is beautiful and sits in a great spot for exploring the city. Silvia, the manager, was incredibly kind and helpful. In April, there were also two very cute turtles in a little water feature in the middle of the hotel. I’ve never written a Google hotel review before, but this place really earned one. I can’t recommend it enough.
