Hostal las Americas - Hostel

The place is beautiful and well located, but it felt tense during my stay because the staff seemed disorganized. They often took over the common areas, and their unfriendly looks and attitudes made guests uncomfortable. Sometimes I felt they treated me or my group differently, possibly because of our nationalities. The breakfast is overrated, just some toast and burnt coffee, and staff using the kitchen to make their own meals left no room for guests to cook. It didn't feel as welcoming or well managed as I'd expected.

Reyna at breakfast was really kind, which was the good part. The receptionist, Arturo, was the worst hostel receptionist I've ever dealt with, and I was given a different room type from the one I booked. The kitchen and patio are small, the beds are lined up head to head, and there's a staircase right over your head. Crazy...

A basic option with working hot showers and toilets, a nice rooftop, lockers, Wi-Fi, and access to a kitchen. I didn't find the atmosphere very social, and there were mostly local tourists or people staying long term. Space in the hostel is limited. The included breakfast wasn't appetizing, so you're better off eating at one of the hundreds of cafes nearby.

The terrace was my favorite place to relax. The rooms were decent, the staff helpful, and the basics are there. I stayed in a four bed room, though how clean it stays probably depends on the other guests and how they clean up after themselves. They were flexible about letting me leave my backpack both before check in and when I had to leave. It can be noisy, but earplugs do the job. People complain too much 😉 Thanks for the hospitality! 🙏
