Hotel Florida Oaxaca

Blanca and José made our stay at Hotel Florida, Oaxaca feel especially welcoming. They shared local tips, helped us find our way around, and even arranged a 5 a.m. taxi to the airport. Our room was comfortable, with what we needed, and housekeeping brought fresh towels and toiletries each day. The hotel is simple, clean, and well cared for. There’s no restaurant, though plenty of places to eat nearby. It sits on a busy street, so traffic and city noise carried into the night, particularly during the Day of the Dead festivities. We still had a really pleasant visit and would happily come back.

For the price, I’d recommend it. The location makes it easy to get around, with the Zocalo just a short walk away. The staff were kind and helpful, including with transport and our bags after checkout.

The bed was comfortable and the room felt safe. There’s no air conditioning, and I found the warm nights uncomfortable coming from a colder climate. A ceiling fan was there, but it rattled too much for me to sleep, even with earplugs. The hosts were lovely, like a kind aunt and uncle, and the Zocalo and some good cafes are only a short walk away. Given the heat and the fan, I thought the room was a bit overpriced. If I come back to Oaxaca, I’ll probably spend more for a hotel with AC. If warm nights don’t bother you, this place could work.
