Hotel Casa Rustica

The location is good and the hotel has potential, but this was the worst hotel stay of my life, despite having stayed in places across Colombia, Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the US, and Mexico at many different prices. I’d advise reading the other negative Google reviews, which felt very familiar to my experience. There were many problems and I had to contact the host more than 12 times. I kept my Airbnb review intentionally vague because I didn’t want to seriously harm a small business. I wrote that guests should contact the host if issues came up, and thanked the family for working through many of the challenges. They addressed some of them, but not even half; most were unresolved. After Hotel Casa Rustica left me an unreasonably poor Airbnb review, Airbnb removed it immediately, agreeing its claims were ridiculous and without merit. I then decided to share my full experience on Google. A year after my original December 2021 review, I saw the host’s Google response and wanted to clarify these points. The rooms were very warm during the day. Although the listing says air conditioning, what they provided was a portable water-based air chiller, without Freon like a conventional central system or window unit, and it only cooled the room slightly. The towels were dirty, yet the house rules said stained ones would incur a charge. When I asked for clean towels, they treated it as demanding. The pillows were flat and no extras were available. The beds were uncomfortable, especially with the plastic mattress cover. Removing it helped a little, but the host got angry. They said the cover was for COVID prevention, though the Airbnb listing didn’t explain it. The host also accused me of using the iron on the dresser, even though I only ironed on the board provided and set the cooled iron on the dresser afterward. I asked for a refund for the unused nights because the listing was misrepresented, but they wouldn’t process one. The place says it doesn’t allow pets, yet cats and birds live on the property, which is a problem for people with allergies. At certain hours the water was shut off, and we had to ask the owners to turn it back on; that wasn’t disclosed anywhere. Even after that, getting hot water could take up to 10 minutes. Please be warned.

A quiet place with nice staff. I’d recommend it if you’re trying to save money, but there’s no AC.

Stay away. I believe these people are thieves: they lied and tried to claim compensation at checkout for an issue they made up. They also got my honest negative review removed from Airbnb, which seemed like an attempt to cover up their scam.

Affordable, comfortable rooms in a quiet, well-located place. The courtyard is a nice spot to relax. I’d definitely recommend it.
