Hotel Huautla de Oaxaca

I stayed here a few years ago, when it was good and very cheap. Now the rooms and service leave a lot to be desired, and the person working reception at night is unfriendly, acting as though helping you is a favor. For the same price, I’d look elsewhere.

The room was tiny, smelled rotten, and had fleas, I’m not exaggerating. The bathroom door was completely transparent too. On top of that, the receptionist was drunk and greeted us in a bad mood. Maybe a hotel would do in a real emergency, but I wouldn’t recommend this one. Absolutely awful.

It’s comfortable enough, clean, and a good price, with friendly service and parking on site. The rooms feel a bit stuffy, though, and the fan is really noisy. It’s far from the center, with little nearby. There’s no food at the hotel and not many places to go around it.

The rooms were clean and adequate for the price, and the location suited our needs, but I wouldn’t come back because of the service. We stayed two nights, and when we asked for another blanket because we were cold and had two girls with us, they kept refusing. They said each bed only came with one blanket. I insisted that we needed one and that the hotel could provide it, but they still wouldn’t. It’s a shame that such a small detail put me off returning.
