The daily excursions and activities were a lot of fun, and really affordable compared with what other hostels charge. The owner is welcoming, loves Oaxaca, and is happy to share what he knows. I loved staying here, and the free breakfasts were delicious. Can’t wait to come back.

There are plenty of hammocks and benches, and the common areas make it easy to meet people. The hostel feels cozy and homey, with a great atmosphere. I loved the rooftop bar and its happy hour deals. The long curtains around each bed gave even the 12-bed dorm some privacy. It’s right in the center, close to everything you’d want to see, and the free breakfast every day was great too. Tere, we love you and your chilaquiles.

We chose not to stay because the place didn’t feel comfortable or safe to us. When the manager found out, he got angry, tried to explain every detail without making sense, became aggressive even toward the children, and kept calling us crazy. Very professional of him. And to save him some time, I won’t delete this comment. No need to contact me or reply. The dorms looked unsanitary and shabby, the sheets were filthy, and the online pictures didn’t match what we saw. Nobody greeted us. After waiting 20 minutes, I asked around for reception and found the receptionist smoking in the kitchen. The hostel and the receptionist smelled of weed, and the receptionist seemed high, as did many people there. We also found syringes. The dorm rooms didn’t lock, which felt unsafe, and the stairs and banisters were very wobbly and need proper repairs to meet safety standards.

The free breakfasts were amazing, and the cooks absolutely deserve a tip. The rooftop was fun, with games and plenty of chances to pass the time and meet people. We felt safe throughout our stay, and the colorful space was very welcoming. Our private room door felt a bit flimsy, so we had to work out how to lock it properly. It was also noisy there until quiet hour, even with a private room, so bring earplugs and you’ll be fine. The location was very central, so we could walk to everything we wanted to see. The volunteers were friendly and helpful, and I especially liked the weekly tours and events. They were affordable and good value. Sol and Luca led a great food tour of the central de abasto. We would’ve been lost without them.

The owner is great and helps with everything. There’s a really good atmosphere here. If you’re coming to Oaxaca, this is the place for you.
