We loved our three nights here and are sure to return. Daniel was a fantastic host who went out of his way to make us feel at home. Each morning, the lovely ladies of La Betulia served a delicious homemade breakfast in the courtyard, around a beautiful tree and an inviting outdoor kitchen. The rooms stayed refreshingly cool, even on the hottest days, which made coming back after exploring the city especially nice.

The calm courtyard and cozy feel make Betulia a lovely place to rest after exploring Oaxaca. The team is warm, attentive, and quick to help with problems, always going the extra mile. Breakfast each morning was freshly made and delicious, with local ingredients. I know I’ll miss it. Betulia Bed & Breakfast is a peaceful, welcoming, beautifully run retreat, and I’d highly recommend it if you want comfort and a quiet stay.

I spent two weeks at their Xochimilco location and had an excellent stay. Daniel, the manager, was caring and responsive. The location is close to everything in the center while still being quiet enough. Breakfast each day at Chepiche Cafe was a real culinary highlight and a wonderful way to start the morning. The space, accommodation, cleanliness, safety, and comfort were all perfect. I can’t recommend it enough.

La Betulia is tucked away on a quiet, uncrowded street, which was nice for both noise and security. There’s no reception area or overnight staff, but they leave contact details in case something goes wrong. Many shops and restaurants are close by, and it’s a 13-15 minute walk downhill to the center. The uphill walk back at night can be rough sometimes, though taxis were easy to flag down and cost 60-80 pesos. The hotel is quaint, beautiful, and peaceful, with a lovely courtyard where it’s nice to sit outside and meet other guests over breakfast. The rooms were spacious and always clean, with large beds. There’s no air conditioning, but my room had a big tower fan that kept it cool enough during my visit from October into November. Daniel, who manages the place, was friendly and helpful with questions and recommendations. The women who prepare breakfast and clean the rooms were wonderful and accommodating with cleaning requests and food preferences. Breakfast was cooked to order for each person, with traditional Mexican dishes, fresh-squeezed juice, and French press coffee every morning. There was also assorted bread, yogurt, and jam each day, and clean drinking water was available whenever you needed it. I’ll definitely come back when I visit Oaxaca. I think this hotel was a big part of why I fell in love with the city.

La Betulia and the staff are gems. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were brilliantly creative and generous, the grounds and kitchen were very clean and neat, and the rooms were tidied and cleaned daily. The other guests were interesting and had loads of ideas. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the edge of the downtown pedestrian streets. There’s a small tienda, a laundry, and restaurants nearby, along with quiet streets, though you do cross one busy one-way road. The rooms are studios, each with a sitting table. Around the courtyard there are more tables, chairs, and benches for getting together or spending time on your own.
