The rooms aren't luxury, but for the price, the free breakfast and location a few minutes from the Zocalo make this a really good deal. The breakfast was fantastic and served in a beautiful courtyard. The breakfast ladies were super friendly, and I loved having the two hotel cats around during breakfast. Despite the name, it doesn't really feel like a youth hostel. It's more of a hotel that also has a few dorm rooms.

For 800 pesos, I got a private room with an ensuite bathroom and breakfast. The breakfast was insanely good, and it was calm there too. Splendid, 100% recommended.

This hostel was terrible. I wish I hadn't booked it, and I ended up moving elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend staying here when there are much better hostels in Oaxaca. Traffic at the junction outside was loud, with drivers honking constantly. The windows didn't close properly, so it felt like sleeping right beside the street. In the female dorm, the toilet doors had big gaps all the way down, so other guests could clearly see you using the toilet from the sink area or even as they walked over. I like some privacy for that. The receptionist was really ignorant and acted dumb when I told him the windows wouldn't shut. I paid for another hostel so I could sleep. They also charged me for an extra night. The receptionist said the refund would come through the next day, but I still haven't been reimbursed for their mistake in their records.

I felt very safe here, and the location was good. The staff were so helpful, and I liked the breakfast. It was quiet and not very busy during my stay. I booked a female dorm, but nobody else ever came in, so I had what felt like a huge room with an ensuite bathroom to myself. It can get hot in the rooms, so ask for a fan since there isn't a ceiling fan.
