La Joya Pachuca

We booked four rooms for four nights for a family trip over Memorial Day weekend, May 26, 2024. My daughter paid for all four rooms in advance at check-in. On the second day, my son got sick, so we had to cut the trip short. We wanted to speak with the manager, but he wasn’t available until the next day. When we did speak, he refused to refund the payment for the final night for all four rooms. Even with 24 hours’ notice, we didn’t get our money back. Don’t pay in advance, pay day by day.

The area is great, with plenty of shops and places to eat. I was there for an event in the conference room, and the hotel was really nice inside. The staff were great, and the air conditioning worked well.

The rooms are basic but clean. An extra chair would’ve been nice. Breakfast was awful, though. The hot cakes came without toppings, and when we asked for something, the only options were strawberry jam or strawberry jam. Most of the other choices were scrambled eggs and beans, with no bread. We asked for toast and got two pieces only after we’d finished the eggs. Even the worst desayuno place gives you more bread than you can eat. Maybe it was due to covid, but I don’t think that’s enough of an excuse. It wasn’t worth the money, and I’d definitely stay somewhere else next time.

Luis at the front desk was really kind. When we had a problem with our cell phone, he called for us to help out. The hotel is nice and very clean, and the location is good.
