The staff were kind and helpful, booking taxis and letting us eat takeaway at the restaurant tables as long as we bought drinks. We also liked the decent white wine and very nice cocktails. Breakfast was included in our rate, with plenty to eat and some choice in the perfectly decent American-style options. Our room at Hotel Maya Tulipanes was comfortable and well equipped. The pool looked inviting and well maintained, but we didn’t have time to use it. We’d happily recommend the hotel.

The price is very reasonable, and I’m really happy with this hotel in Palenque. Its lovely pool has a Jacuzzi and hot tubs, just right for waiting to go to sea waterfalls or relaxing after visiting the archaeological area. It’s also next to the nicest restaurants around. The rooms are quite basic, but the air conditioning works really well, so what more could you ask for?

Our 5-day stay was pleasant, affordable and mostly free of problems, until some party animals rented a room a few doors away. Staff made the first mistake by letting them drink and use the pool past the 9 p.m. cutoff, even though the rules also say no drinking in the pool area. They moved to their room around 10:30 p.m., but things got worse, and it took security a long time to settle them down. That’s why I gave 4 stars. Someone else mentioned humidity, but this is a humid jungle environment, so I’d expect that. A definite plus was the room safe, where we could leave our valuables instead of carrying them around.

The bus station is just a couple of meters up the street, and the hotel is right among the restaurants. The rooms are decent and clean. Beds were okay, comfortable for me, though I prefer a firmer mattress.

A nice, clean hotel with friendly staff and good cocktails. There are good restaurants close by, and the coffee next door is great. No issues.
