The pool and beach staff made the trip memorable, and Julie was wonderful as our server on most days. Those fresh lime margaritas were probably the best I’ve ever had, even after years of bartending. The hotel’s location right on the beach is another plus, and housekeeping did a good job with what was available. The room itself needs attention. We paid extra for a balcony but were put across the street in room 207, where the towel bar was broken and there were no hooks. We only had one key, so we had to turn it in each day to have the room cleaned, though that wasn’t a big deal. After five nights, I’d rate the hotel a 5 out of 10, while the pool and beach wait staff get a 10. They’re the main reason I’d consider coming back, and I already miss them.

The one real advantage is the location. The room had no refrigerator for food or drinks, and the AC only let us change the temperature. It blew hard all day and night. Breakfast was a couple of spoonfuls of salty refried beans with a choice of eggs, pancakes, or French toast. The pool surface is peeling, its filter was off most of the time, the jets didn’t work, and it closed at 8, when beach access was locked too. There were bird droppings on the loungers, and after sunset raccoons got into the blue bins outside the rooms. The property clearly isn’t being maintained or updated. I’d rate the service negative 10 if I could. At the bar, staff wanted cash for everything and got annoyed when we asked to charge things to our card. They also pushed hard for a 20% tip just to bring the check, even though we had to go to the bar ourselves to order drinks. The worst interaction was with the beach worker who handled the loungers and umbrella. He spoke English very well, had a mustache and tattoos, smoked in front of guests, carried a motorcycle helmet, and hid behind the rusty fence between the breakfast and bar area and the beach. When we shifted an umbrella 6-8 inches for more shade, he demanded money and complained that moving it meant extra work. It felt as if we were bothering him for asking him to do his job. I’ve worked in service and tip generously, but his attitude was out of line. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone because of how rude we were treated. The owner may apologize and promise to work on things, but that won’t fix our experience. Maybe staff training would help for a day or two, though I doubt it. Tourism is a major source of income here and people will keep visiting, but if you stay at this awful excuse for a hotel, you’ll be disappointed. Go somewhere you’ll be treated with care and respect as a paying guest.

We wanted to stay longer, but the hotel was full. The room was mostly clean, and the service was good. The TV didn’t work, though the AC was really kicking, lol. It’s a nice hotel by the beach, and I’d recommend it and come back.

We stayed six nights, March 5-10, 2024. The oceanfront setting was lovely, the hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly. But our reserved room had been double booked. We eventually got it after arguing with the front desk attendant and Manager. WiFi barely worked in the room and was unreliable in the shared areas too. We had to sit just outside the front desk to get a decent connection. Friends traveling with us had booked three nights, but were charged for six. Manager said their reservation was for six, which was false. The hotel had the booking details wrong, yet Manager refused to bill them only for the three nights they stayed. Very disappointing, and poor customer service. We won’t return to this Hotel next time we’re in Playa Del Carmen.

The pictures made the hotel look lovely, but the room didn’t match them at all. My friend and I stayed for a week, and the shower didn’t work properly: water sprayed everywhere and a blockage made it come back up on us. The sink faucet had an extremely weak flow. There was mold and fungus across the room and walls, with a terrible smell. I’m worried about the health risks, including serious illness and cancer, and felt the hotel didn’t care about guests’ health. We had to use the AC, but it made an unbearable noise that grew louder the longer it ran. We barely slept and were tired when we got up. We couldn’t open the window because there was no screen and lots of mosquitoes. When I asked reception to fix things, they sent someone who said he couldn’t repair it and didn’t understand English, so we couldn’t communicate. The water was very salty, and there was no closet to unpack our suitcases. I absolutely don’t recommend this place. It was a terrible stay.
