Illusion Boutique Hotel

Florencia Paske was excellent. She helped me with lots of little practical things, and I really enjoyed talking with her about all kinds of topics around the world. The room service and breakfast were great too, and all the staff were lovely. It was an excellent place :)

After checking out, I left my suitcase with a makeup case inside. I had $300 in cash and almost the same amount in euros. From then on, the suitcase stayed with me on the way to the plane, on the plane, and until I got home. I unpacked everything and the money was gone. So I’m wondering: are the staff honest, or is the luggage room open to everyone? It looks like they lock it.

The door lock didn’t work, and a kid walked in while I was lying on the bed, thinking it was his room. I didn’t feel safe leaving my things there, so I checked out after the first night and won’t return. At arrival, I found the room was nothing like the online pictures. It was run down, the sheets were stained, the towel had holes, a drawer stayed open, the shower was covered in mold, and the room was rusty and seemed unclean. The outlets didn’t work, so I couldn’t charge my phone. They’d also charged $35 extra for a service fee that hadn’t been stated when I booked.

Check-in and checkout were both smooth, and the location was really convenient. The staff were accommodating and friendly, and the service was better than we expected. We were pleasantly surprised by how fresh, clean, and thoughtfully designed everything felt. The hotel seems to have had a recent renovation, especially compared with some of the older reviews we’d read. We had a great stay, and for the price, it’s definitely worth considering.
