Hotel Riu Yucatan - All Inclusive

We had a nice stay at Riu Yucatan in Feb/26 and would consider coming back. The resort and our room were clean, and the staff were friendly and eager to help. We felt safe walking around outside the resort because it’s within the gated community of Playa Car. The quiet pool was lovely, with its own bar and a relaxing feel. We skipped the crowded, noisy party pool. The beach is beautiful, though finding a lounge chair was hard unless you claimed one by 8am or earlier. Food was very good, with plenty of choice, and the a la carte restaurants were nice. We always found a table without needing a reservation. The Asian Restaurant being buffet style despite being called “a la carte” felt a little odd. There’s a shopping area nearby, but it’s expensive and seems aimed mainly at tourists. 5th Avenue is outside the gates, about a 30-minute walk away, with some great restaurants, entertainment, and lots of shopping.

The setting made it easy to relax, and I loved being able to see the beach while sitting by the pool. It was just the right size, with amazing, friendly staff. Requests to housekeeping or maintenance were handled promptly, and I’ll come back for the location and laid-back feel. The evening entertainment could be better. I wanted more shows after dinner, along the lines of what you might get on a cruise, and the app didn’t explain what kind of entertainment was on, like the music style. I wasn’t going hungry, but I thought the specialty restaurant dinners could use a little more flavor.

Service was what stood out most at Riu Yucatan. The workers were kind, attentive, and professional, and it felt like they truly cared about guests. Management, especially the Restaurants and Front Desk staff, were outstanding and went above and beyond to keep people happy. The property is beautiful and well cared for. The beach is lovely, the pool area clean and relaxing, and we felt safe throughout the stay. There were lots of food choices, all excellent, and the drinks were great too. It was a wonderful vacation, and we’d definitely return. Highly recommended!

The beach access was the highlight, with amazing views, and the animals were really cute. We hardly used the pools since they were usually full, though they were okay. The hotel is worth the price, and we had a great time. The food was delicious, and we liked that each restaurant had a different theme. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the live music and NYE party!
