Best Western Plus Puebla

The best thing about this hotel is its location, with everything within walking distance. Prices are great, but the place needs some upgrading. You can tell it was once a very good hotel, though now it’s two stars in some respects.

We’ve stayed here often, and the staff have always been quite friendly and helped with our questions. There’s an outdoor carpark and public transportation nearby. The hotel is pet friendly, so you can bring your dog if you’re worried about who will look after it. It’s about 2 kilometres on foot from the city centre, and the La Paz neighbourhood puts it near Puebla’s nightlife, which can make things a little noisy late at night. The rooms are a good size and have a little dinner table, coffee machine, safe box, closet, hairdryer, flatscreen, and ceiling fan. There’s also a portable table and iron, but you have to request them at the front desk. There’s a pool, but no heater, so its water is always freezing cold. The shower has a similar issue: water is hot only in the morning, then starts getting colder. Buffet breakfast is available from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm for an extra cost.

The location and staff were excellent, but the place looked very tired and badly needed an update. Cleanliness really disappointed me. The same piece of rubbish stayed in the bathroom for my entire 13 day stay, and they never scrubbed around the shower. Such a shame.

The continental breakfast is actually a full breakfast, with omelets made to order, quesadillas, and sopes. The staff in the breakfast area were very attentive. The rooms are small, the restrooms tiny, and there’s no climate control in the rooms. The bar has plenty of liquor, but the bartender doesn’t know how to make a drink. The margaritas were 2 for 1, but the first was so bad I didn’t want the second.
