We stayed five nights and would happily return to Casona de los Sapos. It's easy to walk to lots of historic-centre sights and good restaurants from this central spot. We loved the heated pool, the spa massages, the small but functional gym and sauna, and the delicious food. Our room was quiet and comfortable for sleeping, and the staff were kind and helpful. The French bakery on the property was wonderful too, and the smell of fresh baking was lovely. Thanks to Miguel at the front desk for helping us, Gerardo for the delicious Mezcalitas, and Daniel, Oswaldo, and Fidel for their recommendations and attentive restaurant service.

One of our nicest stays in Mexico. The rooms were quiet and beautifully decorated, and the attention to detail was first class. The staff were courteous and attentive to everything guests needed. Exquisite stay.

We didn't eat at the hotel because there are so many restaurants nearby, though the hotel does have its own restaurant. The location is excellent, right in the historic centre and close to lots of sights. Our room was huge, with a comfy bed, plenty of storage, and a large bathroom. Best shower we've had on our travels through Mexico: strong pressure, a handheld head, and hot water right away. There's also a gym and a small pool upstairs.

The historic brick building gives the restaurant a beautiful atmosphere, especially at dinner, and the little pool is small. We had a meal for 20, but the food didn't impress much: small servings with mostly fancy decoration. The chocolate cake dessert was so good, though. The waiters didn't understand English very well, but their service was very good once they understood what we wanted.

We had our wedding here recently, and the service and food were stellar. Everyone was very nice throughout the trip, and we were always well looked after. The hotel is beautiful and distinctive, with lovely rooms and a great location. If you're there on a weekend, check out the market that sets up just outside. The room AC was a little tricky to operate, but that was a minor issue. We'll come back.
