The location was convenient, within walking distance of food spots, shops, and the cathedral. The valet staff and receptionists were polite and quick to help. The room itself was a rough stay: the beds creaked, the sheets felt clammy, and it was cold inside with no heater, even though it was 40 Farenheit outside. Faucets leaked, and the shower sprayed water across the floor. The rooms felt very basic.

We had a good rest in a clean room, with everything working and plenty of warm water. The welcome the night before was wonderful: the receptionist and bellboy took great care of my parents, my husband, our 10 months old baby, and me after a tiring travel day, and made sure we had a suitable room for the baby. The next morning was a very different story. We had two rooms, checked out of one at 10 am, and kept my parents’ room for our bags while we went to breakfast. When we returned, we politely asked for an extra hour because our tour was running late. A woman in pants who didn’t seem to work there asked what I wanted, then bluntly refused and said she’d charge a full night if we were late. We ended up taking our luggage downstairs. I thanked them for the night staff’s care, but also said the morning response felt rude and insensitive. On the way to the elevator, a cleaning lady told us we should PAY ANOTHER NIGHT SO WE COULD BE CALM. We left, and I won’t return because of those two women and their very poor hotel service. THANK YOU TO THE NIGHTSHIFT YOU GUYS WERE AMAZING ❤️

The staff were really friendly, and the rooms were modest but clean. It’s great value for the price. The room can get warm, though opening the window sorts that out. A fan would be a nice extra :)

The location is the one real plus. We had an issue with our booking and called, but the receptionist didn’t speak English and hung up instead of helping. When we arrived, the receptionist on duty also couldn’t speak a word of English. The room walls and door were very thin, so noise came right through. We heard drunk people returning at night. The so-called free breakfast was a dry slice of bread with butter, coffee or juice, and three small pieces of fruit. Even though it wasn’t busy, we had to ask the waiter repeatedly for everything. Hot water was unreliable, and the tap leaked too.

At 10 PM I was arriving and figured I’d save money on the first night. Bad call. The normal rate is around $50, roughly $45 more than this place is worth. They asked whether I wanted a remote control, which made it sound like other guests steal them. There wasn’t a single coat hanger in the closet, and I can’t see the point of having a closet without hangers. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, and there’s no air conditioning, which is hard to believe for a $50 hotel. My room faced an interior shaft where people seemed to smoke, and cigarette smoke got into the room. The windows look straight out of 1920. Cold air and smoke came through them, somehow. It’s a really run-down place. People banged doors and shouted in the hall all night. The only good thing was that they canceled the second of the two nights I’d planned to stay. Now I’m heading to the Holiday Inn. Western values and these places just don’t coincide. 3 Stars! Ha Ha! Pay a bit more and skip this one. At 9.30 am, music from nearby restaurants was already coming in. What the …
