We had the extra room of a kitchen and living room, which was great, and no trouble with hot water. Our room faced away from the street, so noise wasn't an issue. The staff were so kind and accommodating. The location is super central, just one block from the beach. It was a perfect affordable escape from the Canadian winter. The pools are cool, and the weather is hot! The rooftop was lovely, and our Roku TV was great for streaming. Wi-Fi can be spotty, but there are different hotspot locations that work well. *Trying to upload pictures*

It was an easy walk to the beach, restaurants and shops, which was the one clear plus for me. The hotel was clean, though old, and the photos gave a misleading impression. Beach towels were threadbare, there were very few outlets and no USB ports, and the windows wouldn't shut properly. The shower looked new, but sprayed water onto the floor, so we needed extra towels. Wi-Fi was extremely poor. Several access points showed up, but most didn't work and the connection kept dropping, even after I asked staff to turn others on. The worst part was days of drilling and hammering in the room next door. Sometimes there was no water, and management never communicated or offered to move us, even though the hotel seemed mostly empty. With the Wi-Fi, noise and lack of communication, I find it hard to recommend.

The room had cracked, damp walls that didn't feel clean or well maintained, and there was no hot water for our whole stay. The advertised “jacuzzi” was ice cold, colder than the ocean. The location is great, but the rest was a miss. Housekeeping woke us before 7 a.m. every day with doors slamming, thuds, sweeping, vacuuming and hallway conversations. Then they said we'd received a noise complaint, even though we weren't in the room at the time they claimed and we're quiet travelers. 🤦♀️ We travel a lot and don't need much, but we won't be back. If you want to sleep or shower, look elsewhere.

My Christmas vacation was great, but the accommodation was a disappointment. I stayed at this hotel many years ago when it was a nightmare, then heard it had been renovated and cleaned up for a new clientele, so I gave it another chance. I won't recommend it or stay again. Paying more on arrival isn't cool. I booked last spring and was told to pay a month ahead. I paid a month and a day before arrival to secure the room and dates. At check-in, a very unpleasant and unprofessional front desk woman, who said she was new, had a major attitude. I had booked a suite with a kitchen for 10 days, but she gave me a noisy street-level room with no kitchen. When I pointed out the mistake, she checked the address and sent me next door to another hotel. They sent me back because the voucher had the wrong address, even though the hotel name was right. The next day I was moved to a room with a kitchen, which was better. A couple of days later, the same woman stopped me and said I owed more money. I was shocked because I had booked and prepared for the busy season. She said I owed 1,700+ pesos. I told my agent, not an agency, and he said his agency Ocean breeze was starting a case file on Pilitas/Hacienda over false and misleading information being advertised. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink, and the kitchen was dirty. The staff were very unprofessional, the place needs work, and the online booking agency wasn't giving the right information. The price they list online isn't accurate. They will ask you to pay more after a couple of days, and there's a new case filed against them. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

The location is great and the price is low, but you have to wonder why. There was no hot water, so showers and the jacuzzi were icy. The walls are thin enough that you hear everything from the rooms around you. You can use the kitchen dishes, but they weren't washed with hot water either. If you're a group of college guys on spring break, maybe you'll manage. But if you don't want to sleep on sheets that were presumably washed without hot water, there are a thousand other hotels around. Without the location, this would be a full one star.
