Pinnacle Resorts 220

It was so quiet and peaceful, with a breathtaking view of the bay. We loved being close to the beach and great restaurants, and the whole home was immaculate. The staff were helpful and attentive to what we needed. Upstairs, the infinity pool, bar, and crew are a must see. All the waiters and bartenders showed great hospitality.

We were put in Pinnacle 220, and the location was great. The condos were nice too. Most of the staff were great, but the rooftop pool waiters were very rude. Some friends staying at Pinnacle 180 said the waiters wanted cash for them to use the pool, then harassed them when they didn’t pay the amount requested. It seemed like they wanted cash under the table. They also added items to bills that hadn’t been ordered, so check carefully before leaving the rooftop bar. Be especially aware of Alexis, the waiter.

The floors were so dirty they turned my feet black, which completely grossed me out. For the price, having to deal with this kind of stress on vacation is ridiculous. The apartment’s view is of a convenience-store roof and a very loud highway, not a mountain. Sitting on the balcony with morning coffee, you can barely hear yourself think. At night, tractor trailers air braking down the hill make it hard to sleep. I contacted the property several times about problems and got no response from building management. Two appliances aren’t working properly, and I’ve now sent photos. I’m hoping they fix things before I leave next weekend, especially before the clogged dryer vent causes a fire, though I don’t have much hope after being ignored so far. I’m also very concerned that the building has no fire suppression system, sprinklers, fire alarms, smoke detectors, or carbon monoxide detectors. There’s only one exit stairwell, with gates and doors around it. If you invite a couple of friends over for dinner, they’ll be harassed for ID. Meanwhile, complete strangers can go up to the roof deck unchallenged and be so loud and obnoxious that you have to leave the pool, even though it was advertised as being for guests only. I’d hoped for a great two-week vacation in Puerto Vallarta. This property has been a huge disappointment. Don’t stay here.

The pool area stopped feeling relaxing after our first day, and we ended up checking every charge whenever we ordered anything. On this return to Pinnacle 220, Alexis at the pool bar repeatedly brought us drinks that weren’t what we ordered. We’d asked for happy-hour strawberry margaritas, but he served completely different, much more expensive drinks. At first I thought he might be making a friendly recommendation, but it felt intentional, and we hadn’t agreed to premium cocktails. We were six people and had about 20 drinks, but only one was billed at the happy-hour price. The rest were charged as full-price premium cocktails. When we raised it with staff, they were dismissive and basically said, “Well, that’s what the bill is.” The whole thing felt deliberate and dishonest, and it put a damper on my birthday trip. I expected better, especially after my first stay here was one of my best travel experiences. It’s frustrating that one staff member’s actions and management’s lack of accountability soured what could have been another great visit.
