The open-air terrace is a lovely place to unwind, and the hotel’s public areas feel spacious and modern. I found the staff excellent, from reception through the restaurant and housekeeping, and the food is very good for a business hotel. The location also makes it easy to walk to plenty of shops and restaurants. AC Hotel Saltillo earns five stars for what it is: a polished, practical, service-minded business hotel. It’s not in the same category as a Ritz-Carlton, EDITION, or St. Regis, but there’s little comparable in Saltillo for this kind of stay.

I’m here often for work, and it’s my favorite hotel in Saltillo. The rooms have everything laid out well, and breakfast is excellent.

The elevators are a real gamble, and during busy periods you could wait 6-7 minutes, so I’d ask for a lower floor. There’s also a sewage odor when you first walk into the lobby, which isn’t on the ground level. I was charged a delivery fee for laundry and dry-cleaning even though I had to collect it at reception. Nespresso pods in the room weren’t restocked each day, and the A/C shuts off when you take the key card out of its wall slot. There’s plenty of parking, free water bottles in the room and on every floor, and self-service laundry on the third floor at no cost. They gave me a complimentary margarita at check-in, and the lobby bar has a fun prosciutto slicer. The staff were friendly, and the decor is sleek and very modern. The hotel is in a pleasant part of town. Breakfast is generally the same each day and has fewer local or distinctive options than the adjacent Courtyard Marriot.

A clean, new hotel in a great spot. One thing to watch: when I booked through the BonVoy site in US dollars, the hotel charged in pesos using its own exchange rate. The final amount was about $30 more than the site had shown.

At check-in, they took away the room without explaining why, then charged me for an extra day. They seemed interested only in getting tips for service and money, and didn’t listen to customers at all. Worst hotel.
