13 Cielos Hostel

It’s close to everything, yet quiet enough to get proper rest. The rooms were comfortable and the place was kept up beautifully. With its relaxed, warm atmosphere and thoughtful setup, 13 Cielos made a great base for exploring. I’d happily come back.

The location and breakfast were great, but the stay had some real problems. We’d booked a private room for 2 nights, and on arrival were told it was only available the first night. The managers didn’t suggest another option, so we offered to take a dorm bed for the second night, despite being a couple, if they’d give us a discount. They agreed, but at checkout we found the dorm night cost more than the private room night because, they said, we used two single beds. We ended up paying the same as if we’d had the private room both nights. The blankets smelled bad, and water shortages meant showers had to be very quick.

I kept extending my stay at 13 Cielos. It felt like a creative home where I could work alongside others, swap stories, and find inspiration every day. The laid-back atmosphere made it easy to connect with people on the same wavelength. San Cristóbal creatives and digital nomads should check it out. The people who put their heart into the place give it a bit of magic.

The clean, dependable spaces and inclusive feel made this my favorite hostel in all of San Cristobal de las Casas. It’s also very close to the center. They even took me out for drinks on my birthday. Hope I can visit again soon :)
