Hotel Santo Tomás

We checked into Hotel Santo Tomas at the last minute on NYE and had a great stay. It was tidy and clean, with everything we needed, and the staff were excellent. After the MANY speed bumps in the area knocked our car's exhaust loose, the guys at reception helped me jack up the car and attach it again.

The hacienda-like charm makes you feel as if you're staying at a hacienda, and it made for a very pleasant stay. There's cable TV and hot water, plus a garden and ample parking, which is welcome in this city. The friendly, attentive staff added to the experience. It's outside the city center, but I'd definitely recommend considering it when visiting San Cristóbal de las Casas.

The room was spacious and clean, the area is cool enough that you don't need air conditioning, and the service was good. For the cost, the place is a good value. It's relatively close to the city center, though the streets are narrow and dark. If you want to enjoy San Cristobal nightlife, a more central spot would be better. I stayed on a Friday, and several delivery trucks from different companies were very noisy, playing loud music and banging on pallets.

It's a pretty, safe place with ample parking and a rustic hacienda feel, including a fireplace and lovely spaces. Comfortable and peaceful, it gives you a break from the city's bustle. Definitely recommended in San Cristobal de las Casas as a base for visiting nearby attractions.
