Hotel Boutique Plaza Doradas

The staff were really friendly, and the hotel was clean and pleasant. Sophia and Diana at the restaurant were amazing. Plaza Mirajez is a five-minute walk, and the beaches are about a half-hour walk away.

The location near the airport and the low price might make this place appealing, but I didn't find the price low, especially with coffee, early check-in, and late checkout all costing extra. It's beside a very busy, loud road, and the free parking is right out front off that road. The touristy art walk area is roughly a 15-minute walk, but getting there means walking along busy roads and past construction, and it wasn't pleasant. Our room felt neglected, with broken items, paint splatters, and floor stains. It had only a tiny window off to one side, with no screen, and it looked like some rooms only have windows facing the hotel interior. The closet was oddly huge, very dark, and had no shelves. We also had to sign a paper saying the hotel wasn't responsible if things were stolen from the room, so we needed to carry our valuables around. They'd need to lower the price or include worthwhile extras, like downtown transport or breakfast, and coffee, to make up for these downsides. There are better options.

The area worked well for us: a good market is about a ten-minute walk away, and there's a delicious crepe place two minutes from the hotel. My wife was five months pregnant and managed the walk, so I think most people in a group could too. We had an early flight, and the staff let us check in early as soon as a room was available, with no extra charge. Service was great. The walls are thin, so we could hear noise from other rooms. Our white noise machine helped our son sleep somewhat. I'm personally not keen on tile floors in a room, but that alone wouldn't decide whether I stayed here.

For a last-minute booking, Hotel Boutique checked a lot of boxes. It's close to downtown San Jose Del Cabo, with access to local shopping stalls and the authentic Mexican food you come here hoping to find. There's a nice little pool and hot tub, and reception can turn on the jets if you ask. It's a pleasant private spot to get some sun. One small mix-up: we thought breakfast came with our reservation, but it didn't. The hotel restaurant is on the top floor, with a small patio for fresh air, and the food is fairly affordable.
