Krystal Grand All Inclusive

We liked how quiet the resort was, with only a few activities like water aerobics, beach volleyball, and water polo, and no non motorized water activities. We came to relax, and it suited us. There were snacks during the day, and specialty coffee each morning was included. Food was okay, not spectacular, but not bad either. Ayami was our favorite. The sashimi was fresh and hibachi was fun. You could also get sashimi at the Grill. We preferred that food to Buffet-O. We had a first level room with a private pool and chairs overlooking the ocean. On arrival they put us near the Grill, where cooking made the room smoky at lunch and dinner. After more than three hours, the manager arranged a switch, though our room wasn’t ready, so we spent the first night upstairs. The next day we saw housekeeping swap the king bed in the room we were moved to for a double full, and we appreciated that. We loved the room, and unlike at some other resorts, we didn’t have to save poolside spots. A bridge to the lounge chairs would be great, since you get soaked walking to them, and the breeze can be cold. The evening performances on the beach were lovely to listen to from our lounge chairs. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make the vacation good. There’s a bus stop by the hotel for getting around. The people were super nice, though you need patience.

Back for our second trip this year, and Joel, our butler, and his coworker Armando made sure we wanted for nothing. Sergio at the grill, Raul at the lobby bar, and isadra in time out treated us like royalty and made us feel like family away from home.

It was pleasantly quiet during our late April visit, and the service was very good. Beatrice took great care of us at breakfast and lunch, and Joel, our Altitude concierge, handled all our needs. Just don’t come expecting nightlife or entertainment, because there isn’t any.

Getting checked in took way too long, and the food wasn’t great. Trying to get a table at one of the restaurants other than the buffet was almost impossible. Room service was slow to answer and slower to bring the order. On my last day I ordered a cheeseburger and it came on moldy bread, which made me question everything I’d eaten there. A disappointing stay. I won’t be back anytime soon or recommend it.
