Park Royal Homestay Los Cabos

Our 21-day stay in suite 311 was cut short by a day by WestJet. Check-in with Manuel and Ricardo was quick and professional, though Ricardo had to carry our luggage up to the third floor because there are no elevators. Wi-Fi was excellent in the room and usable by the pool. We’d requested a king bed, but got two doubles because all the rooms on the third floor of that building were set up that way. Olga, our housekeeper, worked very hard and went the extra mile. We booked through Booking.com and didn’t get the daily bottled water allowance until after four days of asking. The small kitchen had most of what we needed, but it took three days of asking the front desk for a spatula before we bought one at La Comer, along with a non-stick pan. The supplied pans took longer to clean than cooking took. We did like the sink strainer that caught larger bits. The beds were firm, but the pillows weren’t substantial enough for our usual firmer preference. There was less than a foot of space between the wall and the first bed, making it awkward to get to the bathroom. The bathroom sink drained poorly, so I removed a colorful stone and a toothpaste cap. There’s no drain stopper. The large shower had plenty of room. The TV was on the bed side of the room at an odd angle. I tried several times to straighten it, then gave up. Most free channels were in Spanish. The remote had Netflix and Amazon buttons, but neither would connect. The pool area was well maintained, and the main pool’s heater was on during our second week. Watch out for stray golf balls, since a golf course surrounds the property. There was one on-site restaurant, Le Patio. We tried it once, waited 90 minutes for drinks, and the meal arrived shortly after. The food was bland. This restaurant isn’t associated with Royal holidays. Above Le Patio were a Royal Holidays meeting room and kids’ corner. We never saw them used during our three weeks there, November 17 to December 8. Could that space be turned into a usable gym or fitness center?
