Gran Hotel Concordia San Luis Potosí

The hotel's in a fantastic spot, and breakfast was okay, with some authentic Mexican dishes alongside continental food. Not everyone at reception spoke English, but we managed to communicate in the end.

The location is great, with amazing restaurants nearby, and our room was clean with a comfortable bed. Most of the staff were nice and polite, but one restaurant staff member was rude to my husband. He tried to ask for or order something at the bar, and she looked at him like he was crazy and then ignored him, even though they weren't busy. My husband and I stayed six nights and enjoyed most of it, but our last night was rough. Around 10 p.m., the hot water stopped working. It had been fine before then.

The place was very clean, and the cleaning staff were friendly. I can only recommend it for the cleanliness and the surrounding area. Parking was a hassle too: we had to carry our luggage from the parking place instead of unloading at the entrance. They should let guests drop off their bags first, then park in the garage, even if there aren't many spaces up front. The receptionists were rude and provided terrible customer service. After I lost my key card, I paid to replace it, but at checkout they expected me to pay again. That makes no sense. It was also pathetic to see how they treated people based on their appearance.

The hotel food was typical, overpriced, and disappointing. There are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance, and delivery services are another option. The hotel itself is a great spot in the historic district of this colonial city.
