Hotel Naramu

Mexico is full of warm, friendly people, but my experience at this hotel’s reception was astonishing. I speak English, French, and Mandarin, and a little Spanish. I can manage basic things in Spanish, but I didn’t expect a receptionist at a four star hotel to scold me for speaking English. She understood what I was saying but wouldn’t answer in English. Instead, she told me, “En mexico, hablas español!” I’d love to see her learn fluent Bulgarian for a one-week trip to Bulgaria. Go anywhere else and you’ll be happy.

My sister stayed at the hotel and was completely satisfied. We’d get together at the rooftop restaurant “Bani”, and it was definitely five star.

The bed was really comfortable, and the staff were extremely attentive. I also loved that the hotel is pet-friendly, so I could bring my dog. It’s very nicely decorated and right in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, though the rooms have a bit of a vintage look that I liked. They only provide shampoo and shower soap, so bring your own bathroom kit. There’s music on the terrace until around 10:30 p.m., and it carries into the rooms. If you like to turn in early, this may not be the place for you.
