Hotel Villas Colibrí Suites and Bungalows.

Our first night in Nido was awful: loud music thumped through the room until 2.45am. The shower was fine, and the young woman at reception handled it well, moving us to a quieter room the next day. That room, though, was pretty grotty and nothing like the posted photos. The next two people at reception were indifferent at best. When I asked for ice, I was told to walk 15 minutes to the Oxxo. There was even a big sign on the fridge telling guests not to put bags of ice inside. You can probably find a better place to stay.

In Summer 2025, my partner and I were put in danger. The security guard, in uniform and working for the hotel, held us hostage in our room and put us on a video call with scammers while my partner was just coming out of the shower. We were fortunate to have local contacts. You may want to choose somewhere safer. The hotel is lying when it says this was another guest. Security here is minimal: a locked door and walls, with no barriers, while other hotels have guards checking every entry and patrolling. Believe them at your own risk.

We left early and wouldn’t recommend this place. We paid over $40 a night for a room that didn’t look like the photos, a shower we couldn’t use because the water was either scalding or freezing and sprayed everywhere, and rude service. Instead of offering real help, staff sent a condescending message explaining how to use a shower. The location also wasn’t good for us. There were barely any restaurants nearby; overall, the island doesn’t have many options, and they’re all by the ferry.

Our flight got moved to the next day, so we had to find another night’s stay in a hurry. Thankfully, the airline gave us vouchers and we ended up at Villas Colibrí for one night. We worried a little about being in the middle of downtown, where mostly locals live, but the villas turned out to be cute and quaint. Each villa had three rooms, so a few couples could fit together in one. Ours was very clean and stocked with what we needed. It wasn’t close to the beach, but there was a very nice pool. A great option if you want more local culture on your trip.
