AC Hotel by Marriott Monterrey Valle

I chose this hotel because my mom needed somewhere to stay while I was being hospitalized across the street. But the phone service was so rude that I was about to book elsewhere. The first guy asked for my check-in and check-out details, then transferred me without explaining anything. Simone answered after the transfer, put me on hold, and the call either dropped or they hung up. When I called again, the same man asked if I was the “gringo” from earlier. I said no, and he told me that if I was a “gringa,” I should call back in 30 minutes, then hung up. This is a Marriott hotel that’s held to higher standards than most. If they treat people this way over the phone, I can only imagine what it’s like in person.

The rooms were clean and nicely kept, and the beds were comfortable. Staff were kind and helpful, always getting me what I needed. Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of options to try. I loved the fresh green, orange, and guava juices, and the coffee was good too. The pastries were super fresh, and there was a nice range of cold cuts. Head up to the rooftop for the view.

The front desk women were rude and seemed hospitable to only a select few guests. That was disappointing as a longtime SPG Platinum member. The waiter and bartender, though, were awesome!

The location’s great, with shops and restaurants nearby, and the staff were really helpful. Breakfast was great too. My room was spacious, though I’m here on my own. I had trouble sleeping, though. The AC kept shutting off, so the room got warm, and without the fan’s white noise I could hear hallway doors and the toilet refilling every 30-40 minutes. I hate not being able to control the AC. The shower door also let plenty of water onto the floor.
