Barceló Monterrey Valle

The location is great, next to a giant mall and across from more restaurants. At first glance the hotel looks impressive, and the staff were nice and helpful. My room didn’t feel as clean as I expected. The dresser was dusty inside and out, and there was an unpleasant smell that got worse when I turned up the A/C. I was killing little flies every day, and the elevators smelled of body odor. I have a high tolerance for this kind of thing, so I didn’t bring it up while I was there. I might still stay again, and hopefully I just got an unlucky room.

There are two hotels next to each other with the same name, which is really confusing. This doesn’t feel like a five-star hotel. Service and cleanliness are terrible, and dirty details show up everywhere from the room to the Bistro. The restaurant and room glasses and mugs were really dirty. They don’t change the sheets or vacuum the floor, the walls are dirty, and the room door lock was broken. Even when we provided feedback with evidence, they didn’t care. Plenty of other reviews mention the cleanliness problem too.

It’s a business-focused luxury hotel, and while it isn’t cheap, the location is excellent and the restaurant is good.

The restaurant was flawless for breakfast, and the gym was great. The hotel feels grand and is in a fantastic location. Rooms feel dated, and the beds seem full size or maybe a little smaller, not queen size like in most hotels. Bathrooms were roomy and great. There are lots of fast elevators, and daily parking is easy, paid, and around $6. The heated pool is very nice, though we didn’t see a bar, restaurant area, or poolside service there. The spa was closed Sunday at noon when we tried to ask some questions.
