Quinta Real Monterrey

The biggest issue for me was the lack of attention to detail. I had mentioned in both Spanish and English that I'm allergic to peppers, but they still served me food containing them. Thankfully, my allergy isn't serious. The prepaid breakfast also turned out to have a limited menu, which I only learned while eating with a colleague who hadn't prepaid. The internet was so slow that I mostly used my phone as a hotspot. I went to the gym four times during my three-day stay and found water there only once. When I asked the front desk to refill it, they said someone would come right away. After 45 minutes I went to the bar, where they got water for me from the front desk. I'm not sure why that couldn't have happened sooner. There were other problems in my room, 208, during Feb 10-14, 2025. The water bottle had already been partly used and its seal was broken. Paint was peeling, there was a lot of black mold in the shower and on parts of the walls, and some kind of drink had spilled on the nightstand and elsewhere. It wasn't very clean. I had two conditioners but no lotion, and the reading light above the bed flickered slowly. On day 3, I found the window open and unlocked, in a way that someone could have climbed in. The iron had something burnt onto it, and I made the mistake of using it on my kayaking pants without checking first. Check-in itself was okay, but the staff's English was only fair at best, which often made conversation difficult. The stay was acceptable: nothing truly bad happened, but nothing stood out either. I expected more from a hotel of this caliber. I might give them another try someday, since everyone deserves a second chance.

The event space was lovely, and we had a great time at my sister's wedding. I also really liked the hotel's quiet, elegant atmosphere. Some reviews say it needs modernization, and I agree, but I think the older feel is part of its charm. I only tried breakfast one day, and it was delicious. The staff were polite and helped us with our things once we were settled, though when we first arrived to book rooms for the family, they seemed a little judgmental.

Such a cozy hotel, with a fantastic location. The service is pretty good too. It's my favorite around here, and I just love it.

This was my third stay, and my last. The location is great, which makes the condition of the place all the more disappointing. I was in room 109 on the first floor, where there were signs of water damage. The fridge was broken and moldy, the shower vent was coming loose, and the electrical panel in the closet was open and moldy. On the second night, the hallway outside my room was wet and the bathroom ceiling was leaking. Management came to inspect the next day but didn't say anything. I later found out room 108 across the hall had flooded. Water damage seems common here. I complained again at checkout, but nothing was done. They need to repair the damage and train staff in customer service.
