City Express by Marrriott Tampico

This was my second stay here. The first time, I had no problems, but this visit was awful. I booked four nights, and room #320 was full of roaches. I told the receptionist, who said he’d take ten minutes to inspect another room before moving us. The long mirror was dirty and the restrooms hadn’t been cleaned properly either. So gross. I will not stay here again.

I needed a decent night’s rest while in town for work, but I left after just one night of the four I’d booked. The AC sounded like a generator beside the bed and made it impossible to sleep. The room was dirty, the toilet seat was broken, and the coffee maker looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Water sprayed everywhere from the sink faucet. This was my first stay here and will be my last. Avoid this place.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and there’s a hotel van for getting around town. We stayed nine nights in room 717 and had no trouble with anything: TV, fridge, hot water and AC all worked. The room was clean and tidy, with fantastic blackout blinds. Breakfast was good, with hot and cold choices that varied a little each day. Small shops and restaurants surround the hotel, and other places are within walking distance. I can’t find anything to complain about.

The room itself was nice, but the bathroom had dust and dirt, and the pool we were excited to use was filthy. When I raised it with the same woman at the front desk, she said the pool was under maintenance. We’d already paid, and that would have been important to know beforehand, especially since we chose this hotel for the pool. Really bummed. I have pictures and video.
