Comfort Inn Tampico

The staff were friendly and very helpful. They moved me to a quieter room, which met my needs. The room was also very clean and comfortable.

The beds and pillows were comfortable, and our fourth-floor room was very quiet. The facilities looked fairly neat and clean. There’s a pool in the middle of the hotel, surrounded by trees and green space, though I didn’t use it. The Comfort Inn Tampico is in a useful spot, roughly between Madero and Tampico. A couple of small bugs came out of the bathroom during our one-night stay. The towels were clean, but smelled too much of soap, so fabric softener might help. Breakfast was my least favorite part. The powdered eggs weren’t appealing, and neither was the boxed orange juice. If boxed juice is what’s offered, a better brand would help. The coffee could also be better, especially with local vendors around who might be able to supply it. We arrived at 9 a.m., an hour before breakfast closed, and the food bar was almost empty, which didn’t feel like good service. For a rate around $70-75 USD, I’d consider whether the experience is worth the price.

The room was clean, the shower worked well, and the air conditioning was great. The internet was a little slow but usable. The pool was pretty small, though my children still had fun. The staff didn’t speak any English, so I had to help translate for some American tourists who were having a difficult time. The included breakfast was the really bad part. The cereal was generic, the milk came from a plastic bag and seemed to be a milk substitute, and the coffee tasted like bitter ground coffee boiled in water and filtered. The orange juice was actually Kool-Aid.

The pool is a little different, but pretty cool, and parking is monitored by cameras. The rooms are okay for the price, and the location is good. The service was great too, with all the workers greeting you when they see you. I’ll visit again when I’m in Tampico, VR.
