Hotel Posada Santa Anita

This place is okay if you can put up with a lot and spend most of your time elsewhere. Our downstairs room had only a metal mesh over the window, no glass, so it was pretty loud. The bedding was strange, and there was no hot water. I gave it two stars because it was fairly clean.

The staff were friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here or come back. The rooms are small, the beds uncomfortable, and noise comes through the thin walls from the main road and neighbors. My mother and I could even hear the guests next door being intimate. We stayed in mid-December for the holiday and couldn’t get hot water at night. A broken pipe under the sink soaked all the toilet paper. We told the night attendant, who said she’d turn on the boiler in the morning. When we tried again, she said it was on and asked us to let the water run through from the heater. We ran it for twenty minutes and still had to shower in cold water.

The location is good, but the rooms are tiny and have very few amenities. It’s fine if you’ll be out most of the time and just need somewhere to leave your bags and sleep. I usually wouldn’t leave a negative review, but I wasn’t happy with how they handled my booking. They asked me to cancel the reservation I made through booking and book directly for a small discount. I said clearly that I didn’t want to, because my credit card had a triple-points deal. It looks like they did it anyway. They told booking I was a no-show so they could avoid paying the fee.

I stayed at Posada Santa Anita for years and loved it. It used to be a clean, safe, low-cost hotel run by a lovely extended family, with nothing fancy. The new owners have completely ruined it. They’re unfriendly and nasty, the service is poor, and the rates are much higher. I won’t ever go back.
