Hotel Los Girasoles

I was charged on my credit card two days after checkout, even though they insisted I pay cash at check-in and said that's how it worked. I paid twice. Expedia has contacted them many times and hasn't received a reply. $103 for this room is ridiculous, and the whole thing has caused me a lot of stress. I wouldn't stay here again.

For a couple of blocks from the plaza, this is a quiet and affordable spot in downtown Tepic. A room for two adults currently costs $520 pesos a night. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are clean and in good shape. There’s shampoo and soap, hot showers with solid water pressure, a working TV and A/C, plus a chilled water cooler in the hall and a couple of bottles in each room. The staff have been especially helpful when I’ve left my luggage after checkout to walk around the plaza before catching a bus. Once, I left conditioner in the shower, and a housekeeper brought it down while I was waiting in the lobby for my ride. Hotel Girasoles is a great place to stay.

We’ve stayed here twice during a recent trip to Tepic and would come back again. Shops and restaurants are nearby, and the main plaza is an easy walk away. It’s an older, simple hotel, but good value for the money. Everything was very clean and well kept, and the place felt welcoming and well managed. Both the front desk and housekeeping staff were helpful.

Being right in central Tepic was the upside. The beds felt like rocks, there was barely any water coming out, and the first floor was noisy with people passing by. Charging people to stay here feels crazy. I wouldn’t recommend it.
